07/07/2007 | W4OLB The Smoky Mountain Amateur Radio Club experienced a learning curb at the 2007 Field Day. Our senior HAMS had always helped to erect the portable towers. However the younger HAMS collected and assembled the towers. This Field Day our experienced young HAMS could not participate in Field Day. The collection, transporting, beam assembly and tower erwction fell mostly to the senior HAMS. This activity was a new learning curve for many of us. The club met the challenge of all Field Day preparation and breakdown. We also realized the importance of the strength that young members bring to our club.
