07/12/2007 | K6TUO Tuolumne County Amateur Radio & Electronics Society (TCARES) www.lodelink.com/tcares once again participated in ARRL Field Day 2007 as a 7 alpha station from the SJV section. We were able to utilize the same site as last year which is located at the 4,100 foot elevation in the Sierra Nevada Foothills about ten miles northeast of Sonora, Ca. (CM97)

This year we added a new wrinkle and held a VE session on Saturday morning before field day had begun. We were able to provide testing for a number of upgrades as well as a couple of new licensees. The fact that the general question pool was expiring and the new pool and tests would be used after July 1st seemed to make our VE session very popular even if the remote location was a bit of a challenge.

Our club really enjoys Field Day and it was a wonderful opportunity for the active club members to get together and have a little fun. -- N6EA
