This weekend was a great contest weekend in Aggieland. During the contest we used our Kenwood TS940 on our Mosely 57B beam. We ran barefoot and had pretty good results. Saturday morning the band was quite noisy with a fair number of static crashes, but cleared up for the afternoon, died off around dinner time (great timing because this operator hadn't eaten since 6am), and was back up for the evening, where a bulk of the contacts were made. 20M was the major band, making up 95% of our contacts. We wound up with a total of around 276 contacts. I ran single operator, phone only. I hope to learn CW by next year's contest! We had luck into Europe as well as South America and Hawaii. Russia was heard, but we couldn't get through the pile-up. We had a group of local middle school kids drop by, and they got to see the station in action. They had tons of questions and loved hearing all of the action. Also had a new freshman drop by (he was drawn in by the antennas on the roof), turns out he's a ham and can't wait for the fall when the group gets back for the school year. All in all a great weekend. -- KE5GED
