2007 IARU HF World Championships

07/16/2007 | WP3GW This was the year of the HQ's! Yes, even thou the bands were pretty bad in the morning and did a reccess and when at 2:30pm returned 20m began to "boom" up; 10 m was non-existent and 15m, well, it sounded like 10 and did something, but 20m! Wow it was great!

Then at 6:30pm went to 40m and worked some European stations, and those I could not when returned half-hour later, easily done (how can propagation improve by the time) and noticed that I could work others very late like by 10-11pm (Did cycle 24 began?)Even had a small chat with NP3CW about the contest, and this band sounded nicely as never before, and to think that what I used was an inverted V 20 feet up for NVIS purposes and made from telephone landline cable.

As said before, heard lots of HQ stations during the contest, even worked W1AW/4 on 3 bands. Many of them were from Europe and the farthest worked were Russia, Georgia and Ukraine; could not work the Pacific, but let's see what happens for the next one, oh and broke last years record. Hasta la proxima -- WP3GW
