2007 ARRL 10 GHz and Up Contest

09/21/2007 | KD0AR This was my first 10 GHz & up contest and was my first summer on microwave. The station consists of a DB6NT transverter kit which I built this spring and worked right out of the box. The antenna used was an 18 inch offset fed dish mounted on an old telescope tripod. IF was a Yaesu FT-817ND. I operated from EN91mu, on the shore of Lake Erie at the west end of Geneva State Park, in Ohio.

The first weekend turned out pretty good. Worked the fellows in Michigan as well as a number of VE3's across the lake. Signals were the usual 30 over from Michigan (about 200 km), and the S-meter pinned from the guys directly across (88 km).

The second weekend, was a wash. Went up to the same location as the first weekend, but conditions werent too good. A low pressure system dominated the region, and conditions over the lake were tough. 40 degree temps and a 30 mph wind over the lake didnt help. No contacts were made the second weekend, but I did manage to hear one station in Michigan. -- KD0AR
