2007 ARRL September VHF Contest

09/10/2007 | KC8QVO/R This contest was my second as a rover. The first one was the June VHF contest with KC8JPZ. I was solo for this one and rigged up my truck for 6m, 2m, and 70cm. My rig was my TS-2000.

Power was a bit of an issue this time as I was running off the vehicle battery. I had to drop the power down to about 50-60w to get a clean signal. Occasionally I would turn the engine on to boost the system voltage so I could crank out 100w when needed.

I found 2m and 70cm to be the easiest bands to work. There was some Es on 6 down to Texas on Saturday, though.

All in all, it was fun. It was a lot of work to set the truck up for the antennas but I would do it again!

73's and hope to hear you in the next contest!
