2007 ARRL September VHF Contest

09/11/2007 | NG4T This was our first VHF contest and we had a great time. We set up camp and operated from Norris Dam State Park (50 miles north of Knoxville, TN, EM76WF) at an elevation of 1400 ft. Our modest station consisted of a Kenwood TS-2000 with three homebrew antennas:
100w to a 6m Moxon at 20 ft., 100w to a 2m 6-El OWA Yagi at 25 ft., and 50w to a 70cm 6-El OWA Yagi at 18 ft.

Logging was performed using MixW while WB5KIA's Grid Square program and a homebrew digital compass aided our antenna aiming. Although there were no apparent band openings, we ended up with 57 QSOs. Our farthest 6m contacts were to Texas (DM93) and Maine (FN44). We hope to add 220 and 1296 MHz capability to our station for the next contest. Thanks for all the contacts!

73,
Allen (KG4JJH) & Bill (NG4T) -- KG4JJH
