2007 ARRL September VHF Contest
Saturday using 50, 144, 432 and 1296 MHz. My best DX
was working K0AWU on 144.140 CW at 236 miles and
N0VZJ on SSB at 128 miles. It was also fun to have
six Texas stations come booming into the truck on
50 MHz Es.
On Sunday I wanted to explore further south in Iowa
in grids EN43, 42 and 32 looking for high and open
sites for the 10 GHz cumulative contest. I managed to
work WB0GGM in EN34EK on six and two meters from
EN43FI (128 mi), EN42CX (136 mi), and EN32XW (130 mi).
While down there I also worked some stations in EN41
and EN32 that I don't usually work from closer to home.
I also found eight new sites for 10 GHz operations,
high and open and a minimum of 200 km from Minneapolis
St Paul, MN a hot bed of microwave activity. -- KC0P
