2007 ARRL November Sweepstakes (CW)
After taking a bit of a trouncing in the Collegiate Championship of Intercollegiate Amateur Radio Contesting (http://www.collegiatechampionship.org/) in 2006, W8EDUs goal is to come back strong and hard. The Collegiate Championship is a fun competition between university club stations, where ARRL Sweepstakes, both modes, is the gridiron.
The contest was great fun this year, in spite of the fact that, You couldnt buy a sunspot with a black AMEX card. The bands were 40 m and 80 m for most of the contest. 80 m was particularly good this year. We were running 60+ QSO/hour at 0500Z, with 40+ QSO/hour at the end of the contest on 80 m. A photo album of the contest is posted at http://www.flickr.com/photos/jmgalm/sets/72157603025989912/.
We kept our eyes on the computers at 0200 local time, to insure that the logging program managed the end of Daylight Saving Time correctly. This was our first contest where the contest period in elapsed time was different from the contest period in clock time. WriteLog, our standard software at W8EDU, handled the time change flawlessly.
A special thank you is extended to K8DTS, KI8JV, NV8L, KB3HTS and all of the other C.A.R.C. members who keep the station in great shape.
Now, on to Phone SS
