11/14/2007 | AL4T/4 Having returned from a deployment to Iraq only two weeks prior to CWSS, I really wasn't prepared for this contest. I hadn't so much as listened to CW in nearly a year due to pre-deployment demands so Saturday was pretty much a lost cause. Sunday was better for me and I was able to start S&P'ing and ended up with 176 Qs and 51 Mults. This gave me only about a third of last years score and far short of what I *wanted* to do.

My FT-1000 MP MkV is MUCH improved this year with a full suite of InRad filters and W8JI's Noise Blanker mod. I fitted the filters only days prior to SS and when I first turned on the rig during the contest I thought there must be a problem - I just didn't hear all the other signals close by. What a great update!

I'm working SSB SS as M/S with Jim, K4QPL at NY4A (thanks Howie!) and so hope to contribute a significant score for PVRC's part in the Unlimited Club competition.
