11/30/2007 | K3UD I started out just giving out contacts and then switched to a strategy of looking for sections. It was slow going but I was steadily gathering sections. As my section count grew I began to think of attempting the clean sweep. I did more tuning than transmitting and eventually got to 70 sections, then to 75. Looking for Alaska, Pacific, NWT, KY (Ironic that I could not work my own state) and NNY.

Alaska came first and I thought that I might have a shot. Pacific and NWT were next and I got them both within the span of 5 minutes. Kentucky came very late on 75 meters and I despaired of getting NNY as I never heard it. I was running a pile up on 75 and was putting out requests for NNY. I had a nice run going and asked if there was anyone in the pileup from NNY. Had one response, but that was all I needed.

I have come within 3-5 sections in other Sweeps but finally did the clean sweep after many years of playing the the SS. I Had 264 contacts and 80 sections. Not a big score but satisfying none the less.
