2007 ARRL 10 Meter Contest

12/10/2007 | WB2AMU I suspected that it would be very rough band conditions for the Ten Meter Contest this year based on previous listening and looking at the low sunspot numbers. I was hoping that there would be at least some Sporadic-E activity sometime during the contest as there were in previous years.

Conditions on Saturday were poor here in Long Island during the entire day as it reminded me how poor conditions were during the first Ten Meter Contest! I did hear an XE1 station during the morning but otherwise there was no other skip activity, F2 or Sporadic-E.

Sunday morning started off fairly good with Sporadic-E activity into Florida and South Carolina. There was an opening (F2?) into HC-land with HD2A coming in pretty good. By 11 AM here, the band would be dead for the remainder of the day, with the exception of a brief Sporadic-E opening into Newfoundland in the evening.

At least things can only get better for the upcoming years for this contest! -- WB2AMU
