2007 ARRL 10 Meter Contest
Well what bad contest from Zone 38. This was my first ARRL contest that I entered. I normally run in CQ WW and CQ WPX Phone sections from portable DXpedition stations. The most recent and famous would certainly be 3DA0WW that I have been apart off for the past two years. We are thinking of moving the station to C91, just depends if we can get enough operators. The operators we need will have to be from outside Zone38 as there is not allot of capable operators here... HI HI HI
Anyway for ARRL 10 meter contest we made our way to the furthest northern part of South Africa that we could get ourselves, and ended up 40Km from the Botswana (A25) border. The station consisted of a 20 meter tall portable tower, loaded with an Cuscraft XM510 monobander antenna. Transceiver was a Yaesu FT1000 Mark V and a IC2KL amp by Icom.
I was expecting to be pretty busy as we made more than 1500 qso's on 10 meters alone in CQ WW 2007 Phone contest from 3DA0WW. However there was good openings to Europe, but there simply was no people to work. We were listening to beacons the entire time and certainly heard them come in loud....
Here is my claimed score from our portable contest station:
