2007 ARRL International EME Competition

12/11/2007 | DJ0MY Due to job related time limitations I was only able to work a few hours in the evening of the second weekend in JT65B mode on 144 MHz.

I received/decoded at least 10 different stations with my tiny "QRP" station, but I was only able to contact one big gun (RN6BN) in JT65B, which had an extremely loud signal overhere during the contest -13dB (the strongest I've ever got on my little yagi).

Unfortunately, during my operating time I could not get any trace of the other big guns like W5UN or KB8RQ which are normally workable with my tiny antenna.

My rig was YAESU FT847 with SSB-Electronic 0.7dB preamp at the antenna. Brick amplifier with approx 100W into antenna. The antenna is a homebrew 6 el. DK7ZB yagi with 10.15dBd gain. See the photo of my antenna in my tiny backyard pointing upwards into the sky.

Next year I'll hopefully do more QSOs on QRP EME (6-8 different stations should be a realistic target with my little setup). -- DJ0MY
