2007 ARRL International EME Competition
My original intention was to enter the Mixed Mode Category, but realised afterwards that the real challenge was of course in the Analog Category. So I sent in logs for Analog, Digital and Mixed with a preference to enter ANALOG if only one category is allowed.
Conditions were strange as previously reported in the October session, but very good in November, with plenty of activity over both weekends.
The ARRL contest always seems to generate a lot of interest, and knowing that there WILL be plenty of activity provides a great opportunity for those making their first attempts at EME.
The expedition to P43L on the contest weekend almost certainly helped too well done Al and all involved, and thanks for the QSOs.
At times, the bottom 35 KHz of 23cm was crammed with stations, and some of them were VERY loud like HB9SV, HB9BBD, K9SLQ, K5SO, HB9Q, OZ4MM and OK1DFC. Finding a quiet spot to call, was often difficult and at times stations were getting quite close to P43Ls sked frequency on 045.
I made 97 Analog and 20 Digital QSO's, with 43 Analog, 16 Digital or 44 Mixed mode multipliers. My potential scores if allowed are:
Analog 417100 pts, Digital 32000 pts, and Mixed Mode 514800 pts.
Included in these were initials with IQ4DF, P43L, F5FEN, W6BY and VE4SA.
I still managed to miss a few, like...DJ9YW, IK5WJD, IZ2DJP (heard testing with IW2FZR), JH1KRC, JR4ZZS, LA5ZK, OE9ERC (JT), W7UPF, W9IIX
Many thanks to all who I was fortunate to have a QSO with, and if anyone called me and we did not complete then please let me know by email.
Best 73 and thanks for the FUN
Howard, G4CCH.
