01/02/2008 | K4KHV I enjoyed this years SKN. I dusted off the old viking key, cleaned the contacts, and hooked it to the transmitter. I ran 10 watts and worked several stations using a straight key on 80 meters.
I got this key before I got my Novice license in August of 1956. The key is about 53 years old but still has a good feel. I know that it didn't sound as good as it did some 50 years ago, but I enjoyed it just the same. There were a lot of stations on and I listened to some really good fist. Next year I might hook up an old heathkit AT1 or an ARC 5 from the treasury of old stuff in the barn.
