01/04/2008 | K5HK Another fun SKN event. This year I used my Elecraft KX1 at 1W output to a 40m vertically polarized delta loop - fed 1/4 wave down from the apex. My key this year was a Johnson SpeedX handkey. I used only the 40m band this year.

I only worked a few hours but made 7 FB QSOs around the country. I read the mail on lots of other great signals and fists using nice collection of keys and antennas on their ends. Most interesting and best fist worked was with KA9UDA - Roger, who was using a Viking Globe Chief in to a delta loop - very light chirp and as I recall characteristic of that rig. Lots of great nostalgia rigs hear on the 40M band.

Looking forward to next year when I hope to have my ARC-5 Tx and Viking Valiant on the air with some other great old handpumps from my collection.
