While being licensed since 1969, this was my first straight key night. I worked 11 staions all on forty meters. My key was an MFG code practice oscillator key-not great quality but it works. No one would nominate me for "best fist." My favorite QSO was with my brother W4AKI who was using his original station: a Viking Challenger which he built in the fifties and an his NC109. Frank had more technical problems than I had with my Jupiter. New met old during this QSO.
I would like to nominate for "best fist" W2YBN. John is 87 years old and has been a ham for 61 years. He had to slow down from 35 WPM to 10 WPM in order to talk to me. He was great! I thourouly enjoyed the time I spent. Thanks ARRL. Jack W4BKI
