01/11/2008 | K7BIY I really made it a point to be on the air for SKN this year after being OFF the air for nearly 2 years. Not realy any vintage equipment in my shack, other than my regular radio, a Corsair II which is over 20 years old. My key was my normal straight key, a Nye Master Key. Began on 40 meters at 0200 GMT and between 40 and 20 meters made 8 contacts. Farthest distance was K2A/3 in Maryland. My closest, well, you know the QRM was pretty bad on 20 meters at time, so when a good signal, N3FT came through the din, it was great. It should have been, he was only about 12 blocks away! Had a lot of fun, and it was so nice to QSO with folks who really wanted to chat.
Best fist heard was W0WM, but, unfortunately I was unable to work him. Looking forward to next year, when I should be back up to speed on the Vibroplex.
