Mike, N0EXE and I loaded our gear in to backpacks and climbed to the top of Decorah Mound early Saturday morning. Decorah Mound is just outside of Galesville, WI, in grid square EN44ib. It was a difficult climb, but well worth the effort once we got to the top. It didn't take us long to get our gear set up and on the air. We used an Icom 703+ and a simple wire dipole on 6M and a Yaesu FT-817 on 2M and 70CM with a dual band Efactor antenna. Activity on the bands was pretty light at the start of the contest but picked up later in the day. Due to family obligations we both had to be packed up and on our way down the hill shortly after sunrise Sunday morning, but even with the limited number of contacts we were able to make, the effort was worth it and we can't wait to do it again.
