JOTA 2007
We started out the day by setting up the SATERN trailer at the campsite. Once Brian Short, KC0BS and I got it up and running, the fellows from HABITAT SkyLab showed up for the balloon launch. We had a successful balloon launch at 8 AM CDT and the scouts were soon back at the trailer, watching the balloon go on APRS.
We operated under my call since I was present the entire event.
We started our operations a little later than planned, no worries though, we already had a crowd of scouts.
We finally let the scouts loose, within a few minutes, they were calling CQ under the watchful eye of several Ham volunteers.
In total, 49 scouts visited and all but 1 made 1 or 2 contacts minimum (the other 1 was addicted to the CW paddles)
We got lucky and several scouts got to work Germany and when 15 opened, Turks and Caicos Island.
To make a long story short, we achieved our mission and a good time was had by all.
