2010 ARRL Field Day
The Northwest Iowa Amateur Radio Club had a great Field Day event from Hawkeye Point, the highest spot in Iowa. We did not break any records for sure, but greated many visitors and enjoyed some great fellowship between contacts.
The weather turned nasty Saturaday afternoon and evening, we finally had to retreat into town about 8:00 PM as the worst went by! Were able to make reports on the severe weather in Sibley, IA to the NWS/Sioux Falls, SD. We saw low clouds with well defined rotation and heavy rains and winds gusting over 50 mph.
Enjoyed a late supper while in town then returned to Hawkeye Point just before sunset to find all of our antennas still up and just some tarps needing attention. Back on the air by 10:00 PM! Learned a few things to apply to next year!
