2010 ARRL Field Day
Catalina Radio Club Field Day 2010:
I had a blast operating and meeting everyone (K0DVH).
Holy Cow!! A total score of 6712, That is a wonderful score!! WOW, I have never seen a CRC (or RST) score that high before!! NICE!! I loved the spot I was put in for Field Day. Really nice area, secluded and comfy. The only drawback was the entry road. My station experienced NO interference issues at all from the other stations (especially none from the phone station that was on the same band). (AK7AR)
Arizona State Senator Frank Antenori paid us a visit, and discussed the value of communications in event of emergencies. Thanks KD7KEQ for inviting him! KVOA-TV did a two minute spot on our operation on the 5:30pm news Saturday evening. Thanks to K0DVH & K6ESS for getting them out there! Things we did new or different this year:
We separated the stations, utilizing the full 1000ft diameter, in order to reduce intra-site interference. While we succeeded at that, we lost full network connectivity for our logging software. We also found that the physical separation led to a less social atmosphere. The Potluck organizers went above and beyond, serving two breakfasts, a lunch, as well as cooking the meats for the Potluck dinner! We passed over 10 pieces of NTS traffic for the first time, as well as the NTS message to the SM. (KE7DX)
The kids loved the geocaching. It was really nice to see all the families. (K7GUG)
This Field Day was over the top. June very much enjoyed doing the kid activities again. The memory cups, Geocaching, and tree-ring demo all were well attended. Lots of good comments were received. Thanks, June! AK7AR and CW! Thanks for putting him far down the hill... (K6ESS)
The weather was awesome. The company was good. The planning and organization helped everything go as smoothly as it could. (AC7DS)
