2010 ARRL Field Day

07/19/2010 | KB5TX

The Kendall Amateur Radio Society (KARS) 2010 Field Day was a success!

We had a good turn out from a strong, solid core of KARS members who contributed to that success, the bands were open, the food was excellent, watermelon's were fantastic, weather was mostly cooperative except for the lack of airflow and mid 90s!, the logging network stabilized and the 'war stories' from some of these guys were above and beyond the pale....weapons and radios....what a great mix for amazing stories of do and dare around the dinner bench...and the "grape juice" supplied by "person X" probably assisted in the ever expanding story line...

We had a nice steady stream of ham visitors showing up during the contest. Thanks to Ernest C. Reich (W5FQA), constable for Bandera County, for showing up and giving us some bonus points!

The KARS budget for Field Day was met and slightly exceeded, but it sounds like no one walked away hungry, thirsty or unhappy.

Even with a slight touch of "Field Day Osmosis" lingering from past Field Days, we all got through another event with expert mentoring from many of the 'guys from FD's past'!

For those of you not able to attend, you missed a good one this year!
