2010 ARRL 10 GHz and Up Contest
I spent the first day of the contest up an Mt. Kearsarge (FN43bj) and worked a number of stations. The second day of the contest I started out at the Westboro Water Tank but ended up getting rained out fairly quickly. When I got home I was hearing a local beacon on Rainscatter, but by the time I was able to get anyone's attention the storm moved on me and I lost the path.
Second weekend was much better, I went to Hogback FN32ou in the morning on Saturday and then moved to Mt. Equinox in Vermont, FN33kd. I knew things were going to be good, as we reached the top of the mountain we could hear N1JEZ working someone in TN on the 2m Liason frequency!
We had a great shot down south and worked a couple of stations in FN00 and NA4N in FM08 at 651 km; all were easy copy on SSB.
Sunday I did a Southern, MA/RI coastal rove, but fell victim to the beautiful weather we were experiencing. The first spot was nice and isolated, no visitors at all. The second and third spots were soo crowded I had a hard time finding parking spots!
Ended up with a little over 18k points, best DX was 651 with NA4N, total Qs were 97. I would have broken my east coast score had I not lost a whole day to rain. Better luck next year!
