Venturing Crew 73 is sponsored by Canton Amateur Radio Club. For several years, Crew 73 has operated during the JOTA by setting up at the largest nearby Scout event during JOTA. In 2010, we were fortunate to be at a special Camporall celebrating the 100th anniversary of Scouting in the USA. Seven Ranges Scout Reservation was filled with over 1,600 registered campers plus walk-ins (Cubs, Webelos, regulars and adult leaders). We had an operating HF station with SSB, CW and DIGI modes. Although competition for young minds was tough (what with many other Camporall events) we still experienced a practically non-stop flow of visitors from 10 AM till after 5 PM on Saturday. Also on display was a reproduction 100 year-old Scout Wireless Telegraph that has appeared at JAMBO and the 2010 Dayton Hamvention.
