2010 ARRL 160 Meter Contest
I spent about six hours on Sunday at the home of Zhenxin BA1KW (ex-BD1ISI) taking part in this contest. Zhenxin`s home is also the location of club station BY1TTY in the Tian Tong Yuan neighbourhood of Beijing.
In my six hours, I managed just 72 QSOs. I won`t set any records, but it was fun nonetheless. It felt just like a VHF contest.
I noticed typical north-south propagation to 9M6, YB, VK, ZL, DU and HS, a little backscatter to JA and UA0, quite a good opening to UN/EX/UA9, a a very weak opening to Europe, where I worked from UA6 to DL. I heard nothing from Africa or the Americas.
My overly-long call sign is definitely a problem on SSB, where many ops just can`t handle it. CW ops, however, seemed to have fewer problems getting it.
