2010 ARRL School Club Roundup - February
What a great time! 56 students made 431 contacts (not all counted for some were dupes). Things were running smoothly until about 2ish on Friday. The first indication of trouble was a wildly fluctuating and uncontrollable SWR. The second was that "hot metal" smell ... the amp. We switched radios, tuners, balans, feedline, and amps. The cause: our antenna (dipole) was lying on the ground. It took 9 students and 2 hours to get us back on the air. One shivering, teeth chattering, half frozen student exclaimed ... "ham radio is an adventure". She couldn't have been more right ... it is an adventure! And that adventure for K1BBS will continue in February, 2011. Thanks to all those stations who contacted us. de the 56 member K1BBS Contest Team.
