2011 ARRL Straight Key Night

01/02/2011 | K7WA

For SKN this year I used a classic transmitter built several years ago by a great friend and DX mentor, Jack Bock K7ZR, now a Silent Key.  Jack's transmitter uses a metal 6L6 vacuum tube in a crystal oscillator circuit, and puts out about 10 watts on 40, 30, and 20 meters.  Fortunately the transmitter came with several crystals for different frequencies.  I used it on 40 meters for SKN, but I believe Jack worked over 100 DXCC entities with it when he was active.

Thanks for the QSOs in the 2011 SKN!  It's always a thrill to get on with my Novice key from 1959 and make some "classic contacts"!

73 and Happy New Year!  Jim  K7WA
