Kids Day 2011 was a fabulous learning experience for potential young hams. My daughter Kiersten was interested in participating from the time I told her about the opportunity. 

Our first contact on 20 Meters was, believe it or not, to KH6LC in Hilo, Hawaii. How many licensed hams with full privileges have been looking to make contact in Hawaii and my daughter just happens to get lucky on her first QSO. Incredible!

We worked several other stations but unfortunately band conditions didn't seem quite favorable. I would suggest in the future the we licensed hams try to "hype" up this event more. I think if the kids found an activity level similar to that of the ARRL Sweepstakes contest, their interest would be elevated even further.
