2011 ARRL International DX Contest (CW)
This was my 10th straight DX CW Test. Had a great time. Started off on 15 meters like gangbusters! Worked 100 stations in a couple of hours, but things slowed down from there and I only beat last years contact numbers by 10 over all.
The multipiers just were not there either. When you run a 'neighborhood friendly' antenna farm (I believe the words that come to mind here are clandestine, or modest??) consisting of a ground mounted Butternut HF9V, you need mother nature to cooperate. The super large solar flare on Tuesday last seemed to affect the propagation to Europe over the polar path. I could hear east coast ops working Europe, but could not hear any stations from there until later on Sunday. Results being a much lower multiplier total than last year. Still, I was satisfied with my overall score, but reall had to work at it. Experience in finding those elusive multipliers paid as off.
As usual, I am looking forward to next year. This is becoming somwhat of ar tradition with me. Hope we all had as much fun as I.
73's to all, de Charles, KW6G
