2011 ARRL Field Day
The Wireless Society of Southern Maine participated in their first Field Day as a club on the weekend of June 25-26th. The event was held at Wassamki Springs Campground in Scarborough, ME.
Operating as WS1SM, they began setting up at 2:00 PM local on Saturday, and operated for 27 consecutive hours, running 100% battery power, in class 1A. There were 10 participants, and many visitors from the campground and the general public.
The club met several of their goals, including sending an NTS message to the ARRL Section Manager, copying the W1AW Field Day message (on CW), making the required Natural Power QSO's, and completing a successful satellite contact on AO51.
