2011 ARRL Field Day
The Knob Hill Krew set up under the oaks in the back pasture of N5WLA. It was another hot Field Day in North Texas this year, with the temp hovering at 100 degrees during the day and dipping to 80 after dark. The unrelenting wind was our biggest challenge though, with steady winds of 20 mph and gusts to 30. We had to tie our shelter to a tree to keep it from blowing away. Aside from this, it was another fun weekend, with K5ANR manning the phone station and N5WLA running CW. Penny, XYL of K5ANR, was kind enough to provide chef salads for dinner Saturday. That kept us fueled for the late hours that followed. Thanks again, Penny!
