2011 ARRL Field Day
We set up a 135' dipole in the middle of an athletic field and it was wonderfully RF quiet. However, However, the weather gods were againstg ust his year. There was lightning in the area all afternoon which kept us off the air but we were able to get on in the early evening. That night, we received over six inches of rain in a horrible storm overnight. I only got 100 QSOs in the log before I had to run for cover. The lightning was no joke as a house about 500 feet from the athletic field took a direct hit and burned to the ground Saturday night. Still, with all the weather problems, it was wonderful to get out in the fresh air and have some fun with amateur radio. I'll be back next year! 73, Derek
