2011 ARRL September VHF Contest

10/03/2011 | KD5IKG/R

Well, it was another quiet trip in STX this year.  Unusual conditions and poor propogations, just glad I had my daughters along for the ride to keep things interesting between contacts, 45 contacts in 400 miles, not a great trip.  Most of those were with one or two stations.  Conditions were so poor that we only did 6 grids instead of the planned 10 ( work interfering with my hobby schedule, again!) .  Flew in from a business trip in Europe on Friday night before midnight, set up the station in the Rover Saturday morning when I woke up (exhausted) drove till the early hours of the morning on Sunday, dropped the kids off at home and then flew off on another business trip Sunday evening.

Had to disassemble the rover radios to ship a radio off to the daughter in college, she is working on DXCC and VUCC from EM53 between gaming on facebook and occasionally studying.  Now I will have to rewire the rover to use one radio for all bands.  A little more remote switching will be needed now.

Till next time.
