2011 ARRL 10 GHz and Up Contest

10/24/2011 | K0MHC

My 10GHz activities were split between roving on Saturday and fixed on Sunday; both with the NLRS group. The goal was to capture as much media (photos, audio and video) while operating as much as possible. After several stops on Saturday morning roving, I blew my transverter pre-amp due to a bad switch. So, it was back to the ranch for a quick replacement.

I joined the fixed group on Buck hill in Burnsville, MN all day Sunday.

We all seemed to have a great time with better than average propagation and weather (for the 1st weekend).

The photos include my first portable setup used during this test followed by my revised portable setup (weight reduced) for sprint operation. You can see more on my blog:  http://k0mhc-10ghz.blogspot.com/

In my opinion, this is a great way to get new folks introduced to the microwaves by observing, operating a loaner station and/or a demo station.
