2011 ARRL 10 Meter Contest

01/03/2012 | KD7WPJ

2 years in raw I moved to new appartment before 10 Meter ARRL Contest. It was interesting to participate inthe contest from each new location. This year I made decision to operate QRP from my second floor appartment, using indoor dipole. Fortunately, this appartment is in the older house wiht wood walls, and house by itself is located on the foothill. This helped me to make 81 QSOs. Most remote contacts were with stations from Chile, Brazil, New Zealand and Japan. It was very easy to work with East Coast and Florida, when propagation improved. It was necessary to "rotate" indoor dipole by hands to make QSO with CE1/K7CA, and to make it more like "Inverted V", because room size did not allow to make horizontal dipole in this direction. After 3d attempt Alan received my callsign correctly and send me "hi,hi", because he now me in person. I called CQ TEST few time. It does not make big sense with 5 W output power, but two local stations from Utah responded to my CQ TEST. Final result is 81 QSOs and 10044 score. Not bad for 5 W and indoor dipole. And, it was a lot of fun as well. I took few pictures to show my setup - FT857D with power setting 5W and indoor dipole, pointing East-West.
