2012 ARRL Straight Key Night

01/04/2012 | K1NV

I decided to unpack the 75A-4 and Viking II for this year's SKN.   The garage shack is unheated and the warm glow of vacuum tubes provided a little extra warmth on a cold evening.

I had three nice QSO's on 80 meters with K7FD (OR), AC7ZL (AZ), and W6KN (CA) respectively,  before moving to the 40 meter band.  There, I found K6GVG, Roy,  in San Diego for a 45 minute QSO.  His Swan Cynet sounded good and the lack of RIT in that rig caused him no problems.

I concluded my operation about 30 minutes before local midnight and heard a weak KH6 station come on the frequency as I shut things down.  All in all, a very successful SKN.
