2012 ARRL International DX Contest (CW)
I didn't make a significant number of contacts in the ARRL CW Intl DX Contest, but I didn't have a lot of time to play in the sandbox either. Conditions were really good Saturday, Sunday wasn't as hot.
I made 52 contacts, 6 at 100 watts, then dropped to 50 watts for 3 of them, cranked it down to 25 watts for 15 more, heard KL7RA in Alaska, needed Alaska confirmed running QRP, so cranked the big knob down to 5 watts, worked him, turned it back to 25 worked another, then it hit me, why not crank it down to 4 watts and leave it. I did. Made 26 at 4 watts for a total of 52 contacts.
Those 27 QRP contacts, they netted me 19 countries (2 being Alaska and Hawaii, so now have both worked QRP). Worked all 6 continents. Working 3 different stations in Africa running 4 watts on 40 meters was like icing on the cake.
Did note that some seem to call CQ again without leaving much of a window between calls, are they listening for signals between their dits??
