2012 ARRL International DX Contest (Phone)

03/16/2012 | KB5TX

Our Club (KARS - KB5TX) Kendall Amateur Radio Society Boerne Texas was on the air 160, 80, 40, 20, 15, & 10 meters SSB, all at the same time -- if propagation permitted DX Contacts to be logged. There was a separate Ham Radio Operator's Position for each of the six(6) bands. As in past contest years, K4RMC's back yard ham shack, ham radio gear, and antenna farm were in full use. There was a period where we had to shut down completely, due to a violent thunder and lighting rain storm coming over the horizion right on top of us. As in past years, we had good club member participation: K4RMC, KE5GL, WA5ZKO, K2HIG, KC5FSP, W5GXV, N5SV, KM5SY, WO5F, K5NOF, & KD5MXD. We also had several Ham Radio Operator visitors and non radio operator visitors. Two of the non hams may be in the "Q" to obtain their Ticket during a future KARS VE Testing Session soonest. Fun was had by all. DX Propagation contacts on 10 & 15 meters were very very good this year. That was great to see. We ran Multi Transmitter//Multi Operator All Bands High Power. Signed and 73, Richard W. McDaniel, K4RMC, RMC US NAVY Retired.
