2012 ARRL June VHF Contest
Between Honey-do's and Church on Sunday I was able to make a respectible number of contacts in the alloted time. My score was nothing like last years monster six meter opening but I did ok. 222 was where I was the weakest this time out. The receive went out on my transverter after I had just made two contacts on that band. So I had to make it up by putting in as much effort on the other bands as I could. The highlight of my weekend came when I was able to complete my first out of state contact on 1296 which is a new band for me. The distance may not impress some but for me 98 miles on 1296 gave me as much thrill as working my first DX on ten meters. I had a ball with all the contacts I made and was able to pick up a few Canadians in the last half hour. So I figure that it was time well spent.
So see you in August for the UHF Contest.
