2012 ARRL June VHF Contest

06/12/2012 | KC2QZF

This my first VHF contest from home. I had a blast.

I had several commitments on both Saturday and Sunday so could not work the full contest, and had put up my 6M and 2M loops only days before the contest. So for an untested station, I think it went well. I pulled the plug on sunday evening with 202 contacts in the log.

6M was fun, and the advantages of the loops vs yagi was evident when I worked 10 "1" calls in a row, then a "6", then a couple more "1s", then a few "9" and "0". they were coming from all over for a while! Cool.

I stilll think roving was more fun, and working from the club station was fun as well, but I'm happy overall with the results from my simple loops and 100W. 73s from FN03qw
