2012 ARRL Field Day
Despite some circumstances which might have completely stymied lesser hams, the Falls Lake Amateur Radio club persevered through the failure of two 8000 watt generators which forced us to operate as a 1A station when we switched to a $90, 800 watt Harbor Freight generator that wasn't capable of powering our single radio to anything approaching its full power potential. The power situation also torpedoed our computer logging capabilities, so we had to do logging and duping by hand. As a result we are at this time unsure how many contacts we actually made in the 15 or so hours we were actually able to be on the air.
We operated mostly 40 and 80 meter CW with a smattering of phone contacts thrown in.
The weather cooperated for us, but the heat was unbearable at times. Still, it was a lot of fun.
