2012 ARRL June VHF Contest

06/26/2012 | WA7JTM

This years contest had to be quieter that last years record breaker here in Arizona and it was. The Arizona Six Shooters operated LMO from the Grand Canyon National Park (DM46) again this year, and the conditions on six meters were about average. The highlight of the contest was having CU3EQ (Azores) call us Saturday afternoon during the contest,  for a new grid and DXCC country on six meters. Six was open only to the more Northern paths this year,  and we worked lots of  W1, 2, 8, 9, 0, VE and 7th call districts. Only worked a few 5's and 6's and three 4's in the contest. Nothing at all to the South for the whole contest.

The higher bands were better than last year as we worked DN41 (N of salt Lake City), DM12 (San Diego), DM05, DM69, and DM41 on 2 meters.

Spent the days before the contest with the Grandkids hiking into the canyon and checking out the views around the National park. Had a good time and the contest was about average out here in Arizona. Already looking forward to next year for a grid TBD.

Tnx to all who worked us...C U next Year

73...Pete, Tom, Morgan, and Terry
