2012 ARRL Field Day
The WX5FWD SKYWARN Team works radios in the offices of the National Weather Service - Fort Worth, Texas, as a liaison between spotters in the field and the NWS. A few years ago (when the EOC Class became available), we decided to work Field Day from the NWS. Before that, there were times when team members had to drop what they were doing in other Field Day locations and go to the NWS for strong/severe weather during Field Day.
This year, we kept waiting on 6 meters to open and it never did. We did use the new Elecraft K3 that one of our team members just received. We always try to get a satellite contact, but with just an HT and an Arrow Antenna, we don't make it.
