2012 ARRL Field Day
de W3HGT 1E NC
For the eleventh consecutive year the 570-V (Five Seventy Five) Connection has operated Field Day. This year, for the fourth time, we were back on the shores of beautiful Lake Norman north of Charlotte, NC.
Eric, K4FAN (ex KA8FAN) was able to fill in for WA3ZOE and KE2VO, who couldn’t make it this year. Rounding out the Ops are K5AEM, KA3AIN, W3GQ (our Host) W3HGT (our traditional call sign), WA3WNT and WB3AAC.
Our traditional first contact was with W2EEW, 1D NNJ. Although Field Day is not a contest we do keep score and we strive to improve our operating techniques and thusly our score. Our operating techniques have somewhat reached a plateau and our QSO count hasn’t improved much. This year, thanks to our host, we had a plan to capitalize on the Bonus Points and were able to submit our all time high point count. We never have any trouble increasing our calorie count!
The pressure is already being applied to the 2013 host, K5AEM, to get the new house built and antennae erected so we can operate 1E NTX. (Maybe I can get the boys to show up early to help!)
So next year listen for the chant, W3HGT 1E North Texas
