2012 ARRL August UHF Contest
One word describes the 2012 UHF Contest.. "dismal".
Just before the contest started, a thunderstorm came through right on the start time and slowly passed on through. Usually when this happens, band conditions take a dive and they did.
Stations that should be S5-S9 on my meter were barely making it in through the noise. Bob, K2DRH was the only station that I was able to get on all 4 bands (222 - 1.2g). But watching Bob's signal go S-5 then into the noise told me this was going to be tough contest.
Rovers were out (thanks guys) but I was unable to contact them with all the QSB and weak signal conditions.
Because of the conditions and lower participation, my score is lower than the first time I did this contest on one band (432).
But this won't deter me from doing this again. I'll be back next year and I'll have a new band, 2304.
