2012 ARRL September VHF Contest

09/13/2012 | n6ze/rover

I activated DM03 & DM04: most QSOs were made from near the LAX Intl Airport, Marina Del Ray, and 2 spots in the Santa Monica Mountains; all but 2 QSOs were made from LAX Section;

92 QSO > ( 127 QSO Points) times 16 Grids = approximately 2032 Points total. Equipment: FT100 and TM231 utilized with whip antennae only No great propagation noted, but I had half a 6 m QSO with XE2ML (DL74). (Half a QSO = Zero Points). I think that a few SoCal stations were able to work a Chilean station on 6m Te propagation.) I worked only 1 station in DM14 and on 223.5 FM, no less. My ‘competitor’, K6LMN/R (DM03/04), was bemoaning that he’d worked no one in DM14 as of late Sunday afternoon. The only mountain-topper I heard during my limited hours on the air was K6MI at 8012 ft on Frasier Peak in the Northeast corner of DM04. Bt73Pete, N6ZE/R -- N6ZE
