2013 ARRL Straight Key Night
Another great SKN and my first at my house hear at Lake Wildwood in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Northern Calfornia. It was a good test for my new HyTower vertical.
In general, I believe there was more activity this year than in past few years. Although I did not have the time to devote to working as many stations as in the past. I still had a great time. This is really a nice way to spend New Years Eve. I need to get motivated and get my Drake Twins (R4A/T4X) out of the box and running again for next year. I only have 364 days to get that done!
This year, I used an old army surplus key I got at a radio club meeting 40 years ago when I was first licensed as a Novice. I fogot my Vibroplex bug at home - even though I got it tuned up with extra weights from the manufacturer to slow it down a bit - can you believe that!!
Thanks again to ARRL for sponsoring this event. As for next year, in the immortal words of Gen. Douglas MacArhur, "I shall return"!!
