2013 ARRL Straight Key Night
I only managed to have TWO QSOs for the entire duration!! But it was not for lack of trying. Thanks to the two Kevins, NC6V and K6TOP, for the nice chats and tolerating my lousy fist! I was using an old Heathkit DX-60B/HG-10B TX and a Hammarlund HQ-170A RX with a 40 meter dipole. About 30 watts output I suppose. My key was a 1916 Vibroplex Original. I was TOLD my signal was pretty chirpy, I could certainly hear it in the RX when I was sending!!
As was mentioned many times during my listening (I called CQ A LOT!), it sure sounded like the old novice bands in the late 1970s when I was first licensed. How fun. I still can't believe there is no code requirement and no novice license; that sure was a fun time!
